I am just throwing ideas out here. You said that you are using ethernet for your connection. In your Network settings is Ethernet the top service?

You also mentioned that you have Windscribe. Have you tried with a US Server like Las Vegas Casino under US West?

Also, what are you using for DNS servers? without being connected to your VPN, try using 9.9.9.9 as the DNS.

I have been doing some searching (again) & it seems the minimum OS now for iCloud is El Capitan 10.11.
It looks like my login stopped working on 09/09/24

I logged into icloud last night on a 10.9 and a 10.10 virtual machine. I did see the minimum requirements for some services listed is 10.12, but I was still able to log in and get access to messages on 10.9. I didnt test any other features though

Mate, I strongly suggest not to log out of iCloud on those then!

Not sure why my iMac logged out (or why the Mac Mini is still working) but I guess I am going to go down the 10.11 route........ :(

Thanks Apple.

I ain't gonna be installing tonight though so plently of time to see any other suggestions come through, but thank you for your time & knowledge so far.

Can I suggest you upgrade all your devices macOS as far as possible for your oldest Mac. That would be the Mac Mini I guess.
Your iMac should be able to go as far as macOS 10.13 High Sierra.
The reason I say this is because El Capitan 10.11 is 9 years old now and you may run into the same problems with it next year when like Yosemite it turns 10.
High Sierra on the other hand was released 2017 so you get another 3 years.
Just a thought😉

Should it not send the code request when you attempt to log into iCloud?
Apple will only send the code to "trusted" devices. If the device is not signed in to iCloud in Settings it's not recognised as a trusted device.
