Wrong replace folder in external hard disk

Dear All.

We wish You all the best.
We needs your help, to resolve this problem below, thanks in advance.

A. The Hard ware data.
1. We use MacBook Air 128 Gb.
2. WD Brand External hard disk, 1 tera size.

B. The story of folder keeping :
1. One Main Folder ( called folder A), with dozens Sub Folder.
2. We took, some (4) folder from Main Folder A, to save in the MacBook Hard disk.
We give the folder name (A), same name with Main folder, which store dozens Sub folder.
so we give the same name to 2 Main folder, ( but different folder quantity )

C. The wrong Operation has been done :
1. We took ( copy) the Folder that we keep in the MacBook hard disk (name /called folder A)
to copy to the External hard disk, and replace to the Main folder which name/ called A too.
2. As a result is, The Main folder, which name/ called A, with dozens sub folder, disappeared.

D. Needs your help please :
1. How to put back the Main Folder, with dozens subfolder back ?

Hello and welcome.

It sounds like you actually replaced (wrote over) the folder on the external drive with the one from the MBA. If you do not have a Time Machine or other backup of the MBA and the WD external hard drive, then I am afraid you are pretty much out of luck. There are third-party apps that can recover data, but it is a very long and tedious process, and doesn't always work, especially if the drives have been used since the issue occurred. In addition, files that they do "recover" are not in the previous folder hierarchy, and would need to be identified, renamed, and resorted.

Thank you for your your Suggestion.
event Not the good news, we appreciated.
Now we have been did to recovery, use easeas program, has been around 5 till 6 days.
this time still on progress. the progress around 53%. so very slow. but however, than no Progress.
