Word for mac

Using Word on an older Macbook (the one with the aluminum case). Work's fine except when I send a doc as an email attachment. Format gets screwed.

Using Microsoft word /excel 365 program cannot attach document to email program keep getting a popup No Supported mail client. used to work fine. I assume I have changed a setting but can't see where. on my desktop
