Will software upgrade ruin my Photoshop?

I am currently using macOS High Sierra 10.13.6, and when I was in an Apple store I was told the most recent upgrade would not be compatible with my Photoshop. I use Photoshop daily and I cannot risk this. What do I do?

Hello and welcome.

Which version of Photoshop? Catalina does have much stiffer requirements than previous versions, so it probably won't be compatible. If you don't have any need to upgrade macOS, then don't. If you do, you will have to upgrade Photoshop as well.
