Hello. Just bought myself a shiny new iMac to replace my 2015 model. I backed up to an external hard drive, recycled the old Mac and am now transferring the data. But I've got this message. To me, ALL the information is potentially important and worth keeping. I shouldn't have to lose any of it! But if something's got to go, which box should I uncheck?

It seems like you have more files in your home folder than you have space. I would start by clicking the arrow to the left of your name and then uncheck movies and music.

But, to be honest if you dont have enough space to do a transfer from your old Mac then you didnt buy a Mac with the proper amount of storage on it and are going to be running into space issues later on as well. If you can, you may want to return it and buy one with more storage in it.

Thanks. That looks like what I'm going to have to do. I'm surprised, though, because although I have a few thousand photos and some video clips, I don't have any movies or what I'd consider memory-hungry files. And no more songs than were on my old iPod.
