How / Where can I find each component of the generic address afp://Server/ShareName to transfer settings, etc. to a new Mac from an older one? These requirements appear in a dialogue box on the new M4 Pro Mac mini.

When is this dialog coming up?

This is the address if a Sharepoint. Do you have a NAS (Network Attached Storage) or do you connect to a folder on another Mac with your old computer?

I am prompted for this address in a dialogue box when starting the set-up on my new Mac mini M4 Pro on the same network as the older Mac mini. I am asked do I want to import settings etc from a Mac, TimeMachine backup, etc. I select "Mac" and then dialogue box appears with <CANCEL> and <CONTINUE> buttons. There are no prompts, either pop-up or drop-down, to select from a range of options, it expects me to know the address in the format given.

What is happening is that your new Mac mini is looking for the old Mac, and not seeing anything that is setup properly to be transferred.

What you need to do is to hit the back button, and then on your old Mac go to the Utilities Folder and launch Migration Assistant, and select Transfer to a new Mac.

Then on the new Mac select import from a new Mac, etc.. again. It should now see your old Mac and allow to transfer your user info and files.
