Hello and welcome.

DO NOT enter your password! That is some form of scam.

-You are running El Capitan, correct?
-Have you installed any software recently?
-Have you run the Malwarebytes app recently to remove malware?

Hi there, thanks for the reply, I can't think of any dodgy software I may have installed. i've ran Malwarebytes several times and it doesn't detect anything. And yes, I'm running the very latest version of El Capitan.

No worries.

-When does it appear - randomly, at startup, when Safari/Chrome/Firefox is running?
-Do you have any third-party browser extensions installed?
-Do you have any third-party utilities like MacKeeper, CleanMyMac, etc. installed?
-Are you running OS X El Capitan Server?
-What is listed in System Preferences... > Users & Groups > your account > Login Items?

Hello Cory,
thank you for your reply,
It seems to appear randomly.
There are no extensions showing in Safari to Opera Developer
I have no other utilities like Mackeeper installed
I'm not running El Cap Server to the best of my knowledge and here is a screenshot of System Preferences

OK, thanks for the additional.

My first guess would be that it may be related to the MacID-2 application in the Startup Items. Did you install the MacID app on your Mac and your iPhone/iPad recently? I would try removing it from Login Items, restart your Mac, and see if the issue persists.

Hi Cory,
you are correct it is the login for Mac ID, I recently changed my Mac Login Password, and obviously it needed to update. having not seen it since I installed Mac Id, I wouldn't have known. I doesn't exactly make itself known what it is!

No worries...glad it wasn't a scam or malware.

Thanks for letting us know it's sorted.

Me too, that was one of the reasons I got a Mac, because I thought they where less succeptable to viruses etc.
I might email Mac Id and tell them to make their pop up more obvious that it's from them, as I assume anyone else who reset their login password will get the same pop up.
Thank you again for your help.
Kind regards.
Mark.
