Video Viewing Problems

When I try to watch videos on the internet they take a long to load (Youtube for example) and the news website videos constantly stop and start. Is there a way to fix this or is it just my system?

I'm using OSX 10.4.11
2 GHx Intel Core 2 Duo

How do you define "long"? Longer than on a PC? 4 seconds? 1 minute?
Which news websites?

One thing you should consider is getting Flip4Mac through Microsofts download page: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/wmcomponents.mspx
Free download adds WMV/WMA/Microsoft non-DRM streaming to QuickTime as media components. After that most all Mac programs can use that format.
