Video downloader

Hi everyone,
I'm new to this forum and have just bought a brand new iMac M3, and would like some advice on getting a video downloader for my machine.
There seems to be a bewildering choice out there, but I'm wary of downloading from a website that I'm not sure about, so can anyone recommend a safe, reliable one for me, please ?

I highly recommend Downie (https://software.charliemonroe.net/downie). I have been using it for years.

You may also want to take a look at Setapp (https://setapp.com). It's an app subscription service with tons of apps, and Downie is one of them.

I’ve been using MacX YouTube Downloader for years and have yet to find something better. It’s freeware, not super intuitive but once you get familiar with it, it’s great for what it does. It will download any video URL, not just from YouTube, you can change your download folder any time, can create long queues of files to download, and will download batches.

The only annoyance is that after completing the bulk download, it will open a web page promoting their paid app, MacX Video Converter Pro, a powerful video converter app. I don’t have much use for it, but I finally decided to purchase only because I have downloaded thousands of videos for free all these years and so, why not?
