usb wifi for mac

I have an old mac 10.3 operating system. It doesn't have an airport internal. So i cant get to the internet i purchased usb wifi adapter the drivers load up and them i wait for the usb to load and then nothing happens. How do i get usb adapter work on thiß uter

You need to go to system preferences and then network and select the new network adaptor. Have you done this?
