Upgrading OS to upgrade Itunes

I have an old Mac Mini (OS X, version 10.4.11)
Is it possible for me to upgrade to a newer operating system? I would like to get an iphone 4, but I need an upgrade for itunes which I believe I can't currently do.

Machine Model: PowerMac10,2
CPU Type: PowerPC G4 (1.5)
Number Of CPUs: 1
CPU Speed: 1.5 GHz
L2 Cache (per CPU): 512 KB
Memory: 1 GB
Bus Speed: 167 MHz
Boot ROM Version: 4.9.4f1

Actually, the G4 minis will run up to 10.5.8. It will just be hard to find a copy of Leopard at this point.

The iPhone 4 was originally compatible with iTunes 9.2.1, which will run in 10.5.8. Unless they have changed their minimum specs...the Apple website says 10.6.8 to sync, but I am not 100% that is accurate.
