Hi all -

I have an imac running OS X 10.4.11 and would like to upgrade to a later version...

I understand I need to get the OS X Box set including snow leopard, but its no longer available, and all I can find on mac store is OS X snow leopard...

Also, if I do manage to upgrade to OS X snow leopard, can I upgrade to Lion, my processor is reported as '2 GHz Intel Core Duo', not 'Core 2 Duo' as it says I need - or is there no difference...

many thanks for any help you can provide!

Shop around at your local Apple Resellers, you might find one.

To best best of my knowledge it has to be Core 2 Duo, yes there is a huge difference, one is 32 bit the other 64. Intel and their crazy chip naming obscures these important details.

Thanks Kaveman, very much appreciate your quick response.

After some searching found OS X Box set at a reasonable price online, though its the 5 user family pack and only need one licence...hope that won't make a difference?

Some sellers are obviousley making the most out of obsolete software, some were charging hundreds of £'s...

Thanks again

No problem, it should work fine, given the demand you might find other people who need it too and share the price.

1st Rule of Upgrades: Only people who don't do a full backup before hand have problems with upgrades.

Excellent, keep an eye out for more RAM, if you haven't maxed it out already, you will see an performance improvement with that model. All modern OSs love RAM.
