Hello,

the zones don't show anymore, but the dns is working correctly.
It looks like the GUI is not reading the files from the ns folder.
Does everything has to be entered new ?

all the best

Hi shumi and welcome,

I take it you have done a straight forward upgrade ?

Depending on how you had DNS configured from before you will probably have to enter from new !

Sometimes when you have to hand code(config files etc)...the GUI doesn't catch up or vice versa...

Rick,

thanks, I was afraid it'll be like that ....
I have all the files so I can copy and paste.
Should I delete the old config files or will the gui just overwrite them.
I guess you went through it as well.

all the best

Hi there,

I'm afraid I have been lucky so far, no problems !

The GUI should overwrite them.

Sorry ;-)

Hello again,

I'm stuck with the new dns. entered all zones, but the machine doesn't get an internet connection to the outside world.
I checked the named folder and there are all zone files, but no localhost..zone file and also no named.ca file. So I created these files as I have no idea how to do that with the gui.
Obviously I miss something here, but what ?

thanks in advance

Hi there,

I'll try and rig up a test server over the weekend I have got one running at the minute...

It's easier for me to 'do it' and then explain, with a a few screengrabs...

Thanks. I did it meanwhile, but not with the OS 10 Server GUI, but with a little shareware called DNS Enabler. A really good piece of software. Does everything you need on 1 little page.
Well one could do it with BBEdit as well, but I'm kind of .... you know ... lazy;-)
The problem is, you can't make a forward record in ServerAdmin. ServerAdmin has a nice interface, but is missing some fundamental stuff.....

thanks and all the best
shumi
