UPGrade a G4?

I have been trying for awhile to upgrade one of those pedestal G4 iMacs the PPC ones... and its been nightmarish it has 10.2.8 on it and trying to get to run 10.4 Tiger, i acquired a disc image but it seems its not for iMac its not a universal installer disc, so seeing no other option altered the OSInstaller file so i did get it to start installing i tried every method and i am always getting an error right at the end telling me to do it over, or check the disc for dirt or whatever, so now i can not get the damn thing to open, is there anyway to open the DVD drive like not with the eject button like can I do it in single user mode or something.. any help would be nice this has been a freaking nightmare for me...

Must be the right DVD for that model or the full retail version, there are lots of missing or wrong software components if your use the wrong DVD, if it stuffs the EFI you can brick the iMac.

well i ended up getting a universal disc off a friend and it installed nicely... but now i need to up the ram a bit and i think i might aswell just install Ubuntu on it since it supports PPC and it would be able to use more modern software and such...
