Microsoft yesterday released new versions of just the three programs Word 2016, Excel 2016, and PowerPoint 2016. They are now at V16.11.1. The reason for the updates, according to Microsoft, is:
"This release fixes an issue where Word, Excel, and PowerPoint occasionally become indefinitely unresponsive on launch."

I've already downloaded the ones for Word 2016 and Excel 2016 (I don't use PowerPoint).
