This question refers back to a post i made on the thread "transferring items" but its really another category. I downloaded 10.5.8 update by dial up.Took a very long time, says its downloaded but won't install. you (and others)feel it has been corrupted.
Bought the computer couple of weeks ago, previous owner will come and re install 10.5 so we can start again. He might take it away and do the update on broadband for me.
Meanwhile, president of the computer adjunct ( all PC operators except for me) came up with idea to help incase it should be needed.
He has put the file for the 10.5.8 update on flash drive ( done on PC)... is there a way to put this onto my eMac offline?

Once its on desktop is there be a way to store it on the computer and make it work please?

Connect the flash drive to a USB 2.0 port (not one on the keyboard, they are USB 1) and once the drives icon is mounted on the Desktop, just double-click it to open it and drag the 10.5.8 update onto your Desktop and double-click it to launch the updater.

Can't see why it would be more complex than that. You should be asked for the Admin Username & Password and after a reboot you should be up and running under 10.5.8.

IF it's not corrupt, just drag and drop it from the USB onto the desktop, double click the installer and it should run fine.
