unstable cursor flies around

Hello! I use a Mac OS X, version 10.4.10, desktop and have had it for about eight months. Lately, the cursor has taken to suddenly flying off into one of the corners of the screen, leaving me to find and retrieve it and bring it back to the task at hand. What's up with this? Thanks.

Have you tried testing with a different mouse? It sounds like something in the mouse may not be centred correctly.

That sometimes happens to me when the batteries on my cordless mouse are running low. Are you using a cordless mouse? If yes, it might be time to replace its batteries.

Are you using a wireless mouse in a mouse mat, if so try using with the mat.
