unlocking and unlocked mutex or spinlock

Hi hoping you can help?
The above is listed as the possible cause on my Panic Report. A dark grey 'curtain' comes down over my screen. I am unable to save my work when a pop up box tells me to 'shut down my computer immediately". It is impossible to do anything but close down, losing all my work. I have no idea what 'unlocking an unlocked mutex or spinlock means. The man at the apple shop just told me to 'bring it in and let the techs have a look'. Is that what I need to do? Thanks

Hi,

Kernel Panics can be caused by many things so it's a little difficult to troubleshoot, what OS X are you running and have you installed an update recently?

Personally yes I would take it into your nearest GB to get it checked out.
