I saw this yesterday on the site www.macworld.com, along with it being reported elsewhere:

I don't use iCloud, not even for backups, so this will not affect me. I also don't know how credible it is, but given all the sources reporting it, it could be real. So maybe one might want to "suspend" using iCloud.
