synology nas wit mac mini

Hi,

The installed Synology assistant on my mac mini does not see the installed DS212j It replies " no connection" I am 100% sure that there is a physical connection with the mini and the has.
The other mac on the same giga switch does see the has and works fine
On the desktop of the mini, the nas is visible and i can approach the Nas on the Mini with the internet browser.
The firewall is switched off. Use Lion.

Any idea??and suggestions??
I live in Qatar, so, available technical support is not locally available
