stupid minutes

I just bought a new macbook at the beginning of January and i have an alarm clock for my macbook. All the alarm clocks i downloaded and even iChat always round to the nearest :08 of an hour. I can't change the minute meter thing on any alarm clocks or iChat and if i set my alarm to 5:08 it will ring sometime around 6
i really want to fix this cuz i don't want to wake up at the beginning of a new hour i want to wake up a few minutes before
