Hi all,
I´ve got Problems setting sound volume via keyboard.
Perhaps somebody already had this issue and can help me.

System:
- Macbook late 2008 OSX:10.6.8 (all system updates done)
- Last update was iTunes 11.01 (since that update I had the problems, but I´m not sure if that update itself is the reason)

Problem:
- After plug in and out earphone, sound volume cannot be set via Keyboard anymore. OSD volume indicator is doing fine, but sound setting is not overtaken to pref pane. (and also no audible change) see video

Here´s a description what happens in the attached video
00:00-00:08 :) Setting sound volume via keyboard doing fine
00:08-00:21 :) Setting sound volume via scrollbar in pref pane doing fine
00:21-00:22 Plug in Earphone
00:22-00:32 :) Setting sound volume via keyboard doing fine (But sometimes the problem already occured at this point)
00:32-00:40 :) Setting sound volume via scrollbar in pref pane doing fine
00:40-00:41 Unplug earphone
00:41-00:48  Setting sound volume via keyboard fails (OSD is updated, but volume in pref pane not)
00:48-00:52  Setting sound volume via Pref pane does not update OSD
01:10-end Plugged earphone in again -> Sound volume cannot be set via keyboard.

Recovery:
- Restarting mac (but thats not an alternative)

Here is the video http://www.vidup.de/v/Gzmyv/
I´m using an external hoster, because I had problems to upload the video in mac-help itself, and I do not want to get into this issue too.

I appreciate all tipps to get rid of this problem.
best regards madfur

Check your Console, there may be clues which driver is crashing when your Headphone port shorts.

Thanks for the hint,

indeed there was a message that hear-plugin could not be loaded. But deinstalling 'hear' and deleting hear-plugin did not fix the problem.
Now there are no other suspicous clues in console.

P.S. :Find out that log off and on again also fixes the problem.
