I have a Sony Handycam DCR-SR82. When I connect with USB to Mac, and try to upload video, message appears saying that it is in the wrong format to accept. Please advise.
For those with a standard Mac (not Intel), here is the software you need: 1. MPEG Streamclip. This is free. It will take an MPEG and convert it to a DV file for the older iMovie application. 2. You need to buy the MPEG Streamclip plug-in for Quicktime. This costs $20 from the Apple site. That's it. You need both. They work together.
Thanks for the info. What's weird is that I have iMovie and everything was working well. I plugged in USB to camcorder and away I went. It is only this most recent attempt that has produced the error. "Unreadable files. the following file could not be imported. ( The file is in an unrecognized format.) "
To my knowledge, I have never tried to change the format. Can't imagine why I would need to or want to either.
