[SOLVED] recover deleted file

I have an iMac OSx version 10.6.5 and just emptied the trash can that contained a file I must get back. How can I restore that file? Thanks, Sam

You can try Data Rescue or the currently free, Disk Drill.

I'm a PC user and the Mac is my wife's so I'm struggling with some pretty basic things.

Now I can't figure out how to uninstall a program and i'm having no luck finding it in Help topics. Can you help? Thanks, Sam

Cool! Glad that Data Rescue worked for you. As far as uninstalling programs are concerned; that depends on the program.
You might want to start a new thread on this subject, as this thread is solved.

You can also use the Mac file recovery software to recover files, it supports Mac OS X 10.4.1 and above versions.
