Hello,

New iMac user. Transferred from W10.
Sure is a lot to know.

If this is not the right Forum to post a question re software, please
let me know.

Not a "power user".
Really simple stuff only.

a. Looking for a very, very simple snipping tool like the one in W10 which is
very simple, and worked beautifully.
I could not get "Grab" to work.

b. And a very simple clip Manager.
Had a simple one in W10 called, I think, ClipX.
Don't want all the bells and whistles, Just to keep trackof
what I've copied and subsequently pasted.

Is this correct: the icons on the right of the desktop: I can make them all bigger all smaller,
but you cannot pick just one, to make bigger, e.g. Correct ?

c. Would like a Calendar suggestion, that is again simple.
The one in this OS is fine, but to use it, and see the weeks, it appears that you have to have
it take up nearly all of the Desktop, after opening it up.

Is there one that I can use where it opens up, and remains that way, just a "bit" bigger than its icon is ?

Thanks,
Bob

AFAIAA , the icons cannot be individual resized.

You can resize the Calendar.

Hi
Thanks for help.

Great.
How do I do it ?

Cant find an option to do it.
Dragging corners does not work.

And, how can I dump this particular Calendar as it has all that chinese writing spam, and download a clean copy ?

Can I prevent iCloud from putting spam on it again, somehow ?

Thanks
Bob

Cmd+Shift+3 to grab the whole screen
Cmd+Shift+4 to change the pointer to crosshairs to drag and select what you want
Cmd+Shift+4 then with the pointer in a window, tap the Spacebar to select that window

I have used Windows for years and recently switched to an MacBook Pro. I purchased a wonderful book called appropriately, "Switching to the Mac" by The Missing Manual Publishing Company.

It made the transition very easy. It's a great investment.

It looks like it's available from here:

https://www.thriftbooks.com/w/switc...YASABEgKdtfD_BwE#isbn=1449372260&idiq=7987976

However, how much do they talk about third party software? There are a number of gems out there that most folks don't know about. Also, how old is the book? While I suspect most of the information is applicable and useful, there are some subtle changes to the Mac environment with the last two Mac OS releases, ie, Sierra and High Sierra.

Bob,
What kind of problems are you having with Grab? I use it all the time -- never had a problem once I got used to it.
