I am using a MacBook Air with the latest update. Since I do nothing fancy, my occasional question tend to be dead easy.

Somehow I have managed to hit some key or another and now Mail and iTunes opens on another desktop. Is this what "Spaces" is supposed to do? In any case, I do not care for it. I cannot easily drag photos of my grandkids from an open e-mail to my desktop.

How did I make this happen? How can I undo it?

Many thanks.

Hello again,

You can turn off Spaces in  > System Preferences... > Mission Control by unchecking the four option boxes.

Let us know if that corrects the issue,

Oddly, no joy. I went to Mission Control and unchecked all boxes ("Automatically," When" "Group" and "Displays") I then logged out. I then logged in using a password I have not used in a many a long year. I just checked and all the boxes are still unchecked, so the fix took.Nonetheless, both Mail and iTunes opens in a parallel universe.
