Safari stopped opening when icon clicked. When click and hold I get " application not responding " . Go to applications in Finder - Safari has disappeared.
A few troubleshooting questions for you:
-Which version of OS X/macOS?
-I assume you meant when you clicked on the Safari app icon - in the Dock or Applications folder?
-Could it have gotten renamed or sent to the Trash?
Unfortunately, there isn't a downloadable installer for Safari. You have a couple of options:
-You can use Spotlight to search for it. If found. move it back to the Applications folder
-You can restore it from a Time Machine or other backup if you have one (highly recommended if you don't)
-You can reinstall macOS Mojave over the top of your current installation without erasing the drive
