Hi everyone. I am running os 10.8.5. I have been to the official Oracle site to download and test Java many times, but after installation Safari refuses to acknowledge that Java is installed. Chrome also refuses to see Java, but that may be a separate issue. However, Java works fine, as Minecraft uses it (confirmed Minecraft is using Java 1.8, which is Java 8, update 31).

I am wondering how to resolve this problem. All I want is for Java to be recognized by and used by Safari. Any help is appreciated.

I don't use Safari much at all (Firefox is my browser of choice), but after doing some research on this issue for you, there is a later version, 6.2.3, of Safari for OS 10.8.5. You can get it wither via software update, or visit the Apple Store. Might help you.
