I wanted to post this in a place where, hopefully, most (and preferably all) folks would read it:

Note that it mentions the infamously bad "software" (I should say malware, or "dirty ware") MacKeeper. Not sure, though, if that virus will also infect other nefarious stuff out there.
This article also illustrates the point I have bene making for quite some time: Whenever you download software and/or updates to software, only go to the company's/developer's site to retrieve it. NEVER, NEVER do such downloads from a third party site.
