Hi all. i purchased a 2nd hand macbook pro recently on on delivery found it to be blocked/restricted access from a business (dont know who/what the business is, and have no idea how to contact them)

Is there a way to reset -bypass the access issues? or have i just bought a very expensive paperweight?

And it seems as if it’s been blocked by the previous company. When turning it on it asks for a password/passcode

You should contact the seller to see if they know the password then you should be able to rest the MacBook pro.

Otherwise you have 2 options, but it also will depend if the old user had FindMy enabled. If FindMy was enabled then there is nothing that you can do. and you basically have a paperweight,

As long as FindMy isn't enabled, then the first option is to create a bootable installer. Boot the computer with the Option key held down, and select the installer. Once booted erase the internal drive and reinstall macOS.

The 2nd option is to use Apple Configurator on another Mac and Restore your MacBook Pro.

Check in iCloud Settings to see if "Find My" is ticked. If so you can do nothing until "Find My" is disabled with the user password.
