Resizing Finder Window (and keeping It that way)?

I've tried most every trick posted, but still can't get my finder window to stay the same size when I change it.
Is there, in fact, a solution to this problem, or am I out of luck?

MacMost has a YouTube video series on window positioning tips. I find his videos can be very helpful.
