So I'm trying to open a .jar with java and I cant find it under applications to open with. I was thinking maybe there would be a way to add java into your applications folder? or when you click on the .jar and "open with" if i could find java somewhere in the computer? I'm not really sure how any of this stuff works so any input is appreciated. when it comes to OSX, I haven't the slightest idea of what I am doing.

Hello and welcome.

-Which version of OS X?

If you have the latest Oracle Java version installed, you should be able to simply double-click the .jar file to open it. Depending on the Java file, you may need to download and install Apple's Java for it to open/run:

Download Java for OS X 2015-001
