Re-installing OS X

I have just been handed down a MacBook and require to change the root folder or home folder. However I am fortunate to have AutoCad for Mac installed and would like to keep this. If I re-installing the Mac OS X Snow Leopard disc will it lose the AutoCad program?

No need, just make a new User Account and delete the old one, if AutoCad has been installed in Apps then I won't be effected.
