Question: How to start lists in Word with lowercase letters

I'm sure I had Word 2004 convinced to start lists with lowercase letters but after a hard drive crash and subsequent upgrade to Snow Leopard (still using Word 2004, though), I cannot remember how I did it and cannot figure out how to do it.

Having every single item capitalized on a grocery list, for instance, is simply nuts.

Any suggestions?
