I have just bought a new laptop and am using OS X El Capitan.

However, I am unable to use my Ironkey, which I rely on and Imation are unable to help. I don’t have access to Windows.

I am also experiencing problems with Word in that when I am not using my computer for fifteen/twenty minutes, Word closes down my documents. It doesn’t crash but closes all my Word documents so that I have to re-start all of documents.

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

I had never heard of IronKey flash drives, but doing a google search shows how expensive they are! Saw some references to where they were incompatible with versions of Mac OS. Don't know anything else about them.

As for Word, do you have Office 2011? Assuming you do, Version 14.5.8 of Office 2011 was released in September, and it was specifically for compatibility with El Capitan. Since the, version 14.6 was released. You can get Version 14.6 from here:

That should cure your issues with Word.

Hello
Many thanks for your prompt reply and advice.
I am using MS Word 2011 and the version is the latest - updated a few days ago. However, I am still experiencing problems regarding the documents that minimalise to the dock, closing of their own accord, when I have not used my laptop for 15 minutes plus. Word itself does not close down.
Thanks.

Unfortunately, that issue with Word is something I have never encountered. As it is, no matter what I am doing on either of my Macs, unless I am downloading something "large", I do not let applications "hang", nor do I put stuff I am working on in the Dock. And even when I am downloading something large, I could be doing other things on my machine.

I haven't heard of this particular Word issue either. I will do a little more research. I do know there were some issues with Office 2008/2011 and Yosemite/El Capitan, where the Office apps would take longer than normal to launch/quit.

As for the IronKey, which exact model is it? I know there were some OS X security changes back in Mountain Lion that rendered some models unusable. I believe Imation issued some software updates for the IronKey software that corrected the issue. Maybe the new System Integrity Protection (SIP) layer in El Capitan has done the same sort of thing.
