How to get printer sharing working with older Apple Airport wireless networks using Mac OS.X 10.3 and 10.4.

How to get PPPoE working again when your ISP (covad, etc) changes their PPPoE configuration tonly support a single client over DSL modems.

Hardware: Mac iMac iBook PowerBook Mac Book Apple Airport 802.11b (older, silver, 2002)
OS: Apple Mac OS.X Tiger Leopard and older.

PROBLEM: ISPs selling DSP service used to support multiple PPPoE clients, supporting multiple computers in the home, plus routers, such as Apple Airport. They changed to their configuration to support ONLY THE FIRST PPPoE CLIENT, thus effectively blocking internet access to all but one computer. Their recommended solution is "to use a router (not a hub or switch) that supports NAT and DHCP," allowing all computer on your home network to share a single IP address and a single PPPoE session with the ISP.

HOWEVER: Reconfiguring Apple's older Airports as true routers, by turning on NAT and DHCP, and turning off bridging, causes printer sharing through Rendezvous and Bonjour to stop working.

SOLUTION: Turn on BOTH DHCP + NAT, AND Bridging (checkboxes) using the Apple Airport Configuration Utility. Make sure, too that "Printer Sharing" is turned on for all computers in the "Sharing" Menu under System Preferences under the Apple on the menu bar. Restart the Apple Airport.
