Powerbook possessed by Alex!

Help! My 15" Titanium Powerbook is possessed by Alex! He won't shut up! He speaks about everything I do. Opening windows, resizing windows, you name it he speaks it. I don't even have him selected in the speech preferences. In fact everything in there is shut off. There is also a black box around every folder I click on and every dialog box.
This started a few weeks ago. I downloaded an app named icursor. I trashed it and did a clean install. Started up, still doing the same thing. Have run out of ideas. I'm running OS 10.5 on an old 15" titanium powerbook...
