Powerbook G4 Kernal Panick on install of OSX 10.4.11

I am trying to upgrade my Powerbook G4 from operating system 10.3.9 to Tiger 10.4.11. I have a full install disk for Tiger, but whenever I try to boot the machine to install the new operating system, my Powerbook shows a Kernal Panic screen saying "Cannot find driver Powerbook 6,4". Does anyone know how to fix this?
