let me add:

I have to batteries & they both indicate a similar excessive capacity.

Also both result in a very short time usage(2-4 minutes) before the computer shuts down.

Before restart, both bats still indicate full charge(5 lites)

Then on AC charger startup, full charge is indicated but shutdown cycle repeats after a few minutes on bat.

Anyone else experienced this?? Or does anyone have any thoughts??

I have refreshed the PRAM & PMU several times to no avail.

Are both batteries ones from Apple, or third party ones? Third party batteries for Apple laptops are notoriously "flaky".

sorry i couldn't reply sooner

yes they are 3rd party batteries but the installed one has had NO issues for over five years. Anomaly happened overnite.

The 3nd battery just received from on-line order and showed same anomaly

Yeh, real weird that it can be "hit or miss" with such third party products. Luckily, the battery inside my mid 2013 13" MacBook Air still has plenty of useful life left.

Do you have an Apple store nearby? The reason I ask is you can then see if a "genuine" Apple battery resolves the issue. Interestingly, the manufacturer of the original battery inside my machine is "SMP", whatever that means!
