Please help! Minecraft destroyed my display!

I started Minecraft on my Mac this morning - it had not been working before.
This time it worked - I went fullscreen and moved around a bit to test it out.
Then it froze and the entire screen was discolored and jumbled up.
I could not exit out of it, so I tried restarting the computer.
The start up screen was pixelated and pink!
I have been able to safe boot it, but the screen is still pixelated with large pink squares all over it.
How do I restore my display?

Any ideas are appreciated!

A good indication that something was not correct.

Then it froze and the entire screen was discolored and jumbled up.
I could not exit out of it, so I tried restarting the computer.
The start up screen was pixelated and pink!

Minecraft is a game about placing blocks to build anything you can imagine, blocks being the operative word here.

Personally I would fully uninstall the game reboot and then within system preferences double check your displays settings.
