I have a 40 gig G3 ibook, running tiger. As of about a week ago every time I try to open photoshop CS, it starts to open and then quits unexpectedly while loading the twain menus. When I go to the report I get the following message:
PID: 229
Thread: 0

Exception: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (0x0001)
Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS (0x0001) at 0x666f2d6d

Thread 0 Crashed:
0 <<00000000>> 0xfffeff20 objc_msgSend_rtp + 32

there's more, but that seems to be the nut of it. I have tried removing every trace of photoshop from the ibook (spotlight photoshop, >cmd delete>empty trash. and have reinstalled it twice. I have also used my tiger install cd to do a disk repair, all to no avail.

I think this happened sometime after the last system update.

This error is usually caused by a defective twain driver. Is it CS or CS2?

What you need to do is open the finder, navigate to
Code:
   Applications/AdobePhotoshopCS2/Plug-Ins/Import/Export/TWAIN.plugin

highlight the TWAIN.plugin icon and change its name to ~TWAIN.plugin.

You will find the ~ (tilda) key usually at the top left of your keyboard. All you need to do is put the cursor in front of the name and press shift and the tilda key.

Man, thank you so much for your help... I also had the same problem. Just added the "~", and everything came to normal.
I had to register just to thank you... ;)

I found on the adobe site that this was a known bug, and the latest OS x release fixed it.

Hi,

You should find this in your hidden library folder, hold down the alt key while accessing the go menu.

Thanks for all your help folks. Turned out it was an error caused by corrupted or duplicate font file I uploaded from the web. uninstalled the file and re-installed it and all is good. Good to know about the twain.plugin however since I'm running a very old version of Photo Shop. Great forum... I'm sure I'll lean on you peeps again.
Cheers, M
