Can anyone tell me,and elderly old girl of 78 how I am supposed to remember who and where the people and places are in the future if I can't put the captions under my pics?I have watched a tutorial today , nothing about it.
On iPhoto I used to write all funny caption, and the names, names of hotels etc.
What is going on APPLE, please give us this back, I am not the only one who wants to know this. All I can see is the date.
I was told I cloud gives the place and time!!!!!! I don't want iCloud, It doesn't tell me that is my family names etc

So do I have to write what and who are on the pics in future?

Am I wrong did I miss something on the tutorial? If so I apologise

Hi,

-You are now using Photos. not iPhoto, correct? If so, you should be able to simply move your mouse pointer just below the photo and the word Untitled will appear in very light gray. You can then click there once, and it will allow you to enter a name/caption.
-Or, click on a photo once to select it, click on Window in the menu bar, click Info, and Add a Title and other info in the box that pops up.
-You see the date above the photos, correct?

Can you try that and let us know?

Hi Cory. I tried it, it doesn't work, well not for me at least, I even tried on my old iPhoto captions them I could change. bit of a mystery, I took a pic from each category

At the moment, nothing. seems others have the same problem, when I do what you say even untitled doesn't come up.

Thank you

OK

-When you click on a photo in Photos, does a blue selection rectangle appear around the photo?
-If so, it should show you the word Untitled just below it like below:

Photos - Untitled.jpg

You should then be able to click the word Untitled once, and a blue highlight rectangle will show up around where you can edit the title.

Hi Cory,I wish I could see the untitled word, again did what you said, and clicked on everything in different folders, got the blue line ok,double click brought up the pic. off course my old I photos are captioned ok
when I go into events etc, I am wondering if the word will only appear if I download some new pics, and that is the reason as all the pics are before upgrade, does that make sense.
by the way that avatar is a norwegian troll, I am intact uglier! monto

Cory further to the above,I took new pics and tried on photos on all things to leave a caption, nothing, even when highlighted
So its got to be something that needs unticking or ticked,I fully expected when the pics went into last import it would happen, not even in l all the others

OK...I think I may have solved it.

When you click on a photo and get the blue rectangle around it, go up to the menu bar and click View > Metadata > Titles so that it gets a checkmark next to it in the list. Then, Untitled should show in light gray underneath your photos as I described. Maybe that is off by default.
