Photos off my Mac onto icloud

i have been unable to move my photos onto iCloud and not save them at all on my MacBook. Is this possible?

We'll need a bit more information:

-Which model macBook?
-Which version of OS X?
-Are you using iPhoto or Photos?
-Did you purchase extra iCloud Drive storage?
-Do you not want any photos stored on the MacBook at all?
