Photo load problem

Frequently I'm getting little blue boxes with a '?' in the middle where a photograph should be. What's up, and how can I make it stop?

Start iPhoto with Option and Command held down, Rebuild thumbnails.

The question is why? are you deleting photos from Finder, which is taking them out of your iPhoto Library? Always use iPhoto to remove photos from it's library.

All the photos you see in the iPhoto Library are just alias' to photos hidden away in the iPhoto hierarchy in your Pictures directory.

If the photos in question are removed from this complicated hierarchy, as Kaveman states above, you will see a ?.
