Password Problem!! Arrrgh

Hey,

I have just bought a MacBook, running 10.4.8. I'm new to Mac as it is and I am now going crazy!!!

I set my Admin password, which is now not working and when I try to reset it ... inserting the install DVD 1, holding down C, going to utilities and selecting change password, there is no Hard drive there just the DVD Disc 1 and it comes up with that it has not been changed and there is an error?

Any idea why this is happening and how I can get to reset my password?!

This sounds really weird. If you have not already done so, I would consider bringing it to a local Apple Genius bar or similar..
