I have had it for so long, on both of my Macs, and I absolutely depend upon it. It has never failed me. And in fact I will not upgrade to a new Mac OS until a version of 1Password is released that is compatible with the new Mac OS. That was the case for both Sierra and High Sierra.
Definitely recommend it, and it's a wise investment.
Whatever you choose I advise if it's possible to have a hard copy of your password data held in a password protected document. I wouldn't trust to just have this important data held offsite somewhere in the world without having my own personal backup.
I use LastPass & the only horror I encountered was changing my master password then freaking out when LastPass didn't recognise it. Lucky for my backup I was able to start over.
