I'm running a MacBook Pro (previous generation) with Snow Leopard 10.6, 2.16 GHz. I've had it for about 4 years.
I was watching a movie using VLC Media Player when it froze. I restarted and it took over 30 minutes to boot. Once booted, I couldn't get it to recognize any external hardware (a flash drive) and it could not open applications or run software.
Since the initial problem started the boot time is anywhere from 10 - 20 minutes, and I cannot get it to start in safe mode, run a hardware diagnostic, or boot from the CD drive for a fresh install of Leopard. When I try to run an application I get the rainbow pinwheel for about 10 - 15 minutes. The application will usually open, but it will run extremely slow offering zero productivity.
Any advice would be fantastic! Thanks!
