Hello everyone !!!
I have a late 2009 MacBook Pro 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 4 $ GB 1067 MHZ DDR3
Last summer I upgraded to Snow Leopard and then subsequently was able to go to Yosemite.
A couple of weeks ago my HDD started freezing up, not starting up, etc.
I saved as much from my original HDD to an external HDD and bought a Seagate 1TB SSHDD.
No problems so far. So I install Snow Leopard and I am trying to get back to Yosemite. Problem.
Every time I download a newer version, I get a message that it cannot be installed because it needs XXXX version first.
I have downloaded and tried to install version 10.6.6 The version that follows my Snow leopard 10.6.6 and it stills says that it cannot be installed on this drive because it doesn't meet the requirements for this version.
Again I had NO Problems last year installing Snow Leopard and the going to Yosemite.
Please, any help would be SO APPRECIATED.

Hello and welcome.

Try running Software Updates until you are at 10.6.8, then try to download and install Yosemite.
