Optical Tray Won't Close

Optical Tray Won't Close. Keeps opening. not a stuck key, tried closing with i-tunes command key. G4 867 dual mirrored 10.3.9 panther (I think) Philips CDD5101 rev.A3.5 drive. I've been told that this drive is no longer available and moving to a new drive will not allow my older version of I tunes to talk to it. Either way, the tray won't close. And, this has been an intermittent problem. Just last week it was working as I would press the open/close button and it would obey my command.
Can someone steer me to a good tech in Los Angeles or make some suggestions here?
