Opening desktop documents

Okay, this is weird, but double-clicking a Pages document on my desktop no longer opens it. It flashes, as if it is about to open but it doesn't. Nor can I open it by double-clicking the item in the Finder menu. This started to happen after the latest Pages upgrade to 8.1. To get to that document I have to use the Pages file drop-down menu's "Open" or "Open Recent." Anyone else have this problem? Oh, I should mention that the document did open the first time I double-clicked it. But not after that.

I've had the same problem on the odd occasion. Couldn't say if it was with Pages though. The problem was solved in the same way as Em-Ess, and then didn't re-occur for the same file.
